Development of clinical guidelines for thromboprophylaxis in an
acute trust - one size doesn't fit all

Summary of project
Evidence-based guidelines and education programmes to reduce the number of unnecessary deaths from venous thrombolytic events have been developed and implemented within the medical directorate of an acute hospital trust. The focus of this work was on identifying patients at risk and instigating a prophylactic regime. This project aimed to adapt this work for use across the whole trust whilst acknowledging the unique nature of the differing client groups.
