ADVANCING HEALTHCARE PRACTICE Small grants awarded during 2006 Developing Practice Though Action Learning to Improve the Nutritional Status of Elderly Care Home Residents. Project leader: Glynnis Walsh Summary of initiative: According to Berkley & Prentice (1999) "Many residents in nursing homes are likely to be very frail, suffer from multiple disabilities and have increased nutritional needs". This project aimed to improve the nutritional status of the residents in a nursing home via staff development through action learning. It was anticipated that patient care could be improved through staff development and changes in practice, driven by the needs of service users. The project is now complete and a final report is available to download.
