Kettering Infection Predictor Project

Project leader:

Dawn Westmoreland

Location:

Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust

Summary of initiative:

This project is aiming to develop and implement a tool that will predict a patient's level of risk of acquiring a healthcare associated infection.

The draft predictor tool and patient information leaflets are currently being developed by a project team involving the Infection Control Team and the Director of Nursing. The tool will be piloted on a surgical and medical ward. Following initial teaching sessions, staff on these wards will be supported to use the tool by members of the Infection Control Team.

Evaluation of this project will involve analysis of continuous surveillance, follow-up infection control audits and feedback on the use of the tool from staff.
