ADVANCING HEALTHCARE PRACTICE Small projects supported during 2007 Enabling Privacy and Dignity in Care: Using Creative Arts to Develop Practice with Older People Project leader: Jonathan Webster and Guy Noble Location: University College London Hospital Summary of initiative: This project aims to bring together nurses and older people to explore the meaning of privacy and dignity in care. Through expert facilitation, the creative arts (painting, sculpture, music, narrative and theatre) will be used to firstly explore what dignity in care means to individuals (older people and nurses) and secondly, how increased awareness and understanding through joint learning and exploration through creativity can enable nurses to develop their practice with older people. Underpinning this project will be a robust method of evaluation that will aim to capture the dynamic learning and impact on both practice and practitioners.
