Small Projects Programme

The FoNS small projects programme (SPP) supports clinically based nurses, midwives and healthcare teams who want to develop healthcare practice to improve patient care in any healthcare setting across the UK.

The SPP aims to support projects that:

• have identified from practice aspects of care that need improving
• will use research, evidence from clinical practice and patient experience to explore how practice needs to be changed
• will use systematic methods for development and evaluation which enables all stakeholders to be involved in understanding what needs to be changed and how this can be achieved

The SPP can offer:

• support to develop an idea for improving patient care into an effective project proposal/plan
• help to identify and make links with people who may be able to offer support locally
• facilitation in the workplace to support the implementation and evaluation of change
• encouragement to publish and disseminate work
• funding of up to £2000

It is FoNS’ intention that the focus of this programme should primarily be on supporting clinically based practitioners i.e. those working at the interface between healthcare practitioners and patients/service users and that potential applicants should be aware of the availability of facilitation and support from the FoNS practice development facilitators.

Current activity

FoNS Small Project Programme: General Focus supported in association with the Burdett Trust for Nursing.

This programme is currently closed to new applications but we will be announcing a new programme in the summer.

FoNS Small Projects Programme: Special Focus - Supporting Developments in Practice to Improve Fundamental Aspects of Care in partnership with Antigone.

This programme is currently closed to new applications.
