Application for NHS Innovation Challenge Prizes 2012
The NHS Innovation Challenge Prizes for 2012 focus on tackling the biggest health and social care challenges we face today. They are awarded for the achievement of significant breakthroughs for a specific objective relating to an important health challenge. This is a great opportunity for nurses to show case their work. Applications must be submitted by 1st June 2012.
Who should apply?
The RCN has been approached by the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement to encourage nurses to apply for these prizes. Anyone working in the NHS across the 4 countries of the UK can apply. Additionally, Peter Carter, General Secretary and Chief Executive of the RCN is a member of the Expert Panel*
What are the categories?
1) Better Management Of Pregnancy
2) Medicines – Reducing Waste, Increasing Benefits
3) Control Of Infection
4) Earlier Cancer Diagnosis
5) Receiving Emergency Care in the Right Place, First Time
6) Reducing Avoidable Attendances in Primary Care
7) Improved Diagnostic Investigation
8) Identification and Diagnosis of COPD
9) Reducing Falls and Falls Injuries
*An Expert Panel of leading medical scientists, academics, industry experts and innovators has been appointed to set the parameters of the challenges, to assess all the entries received and to make recommendations on the award of prizes to the Secretary of State for Health. The Secretary of State for Health will ultimately decide upon the award of prizes and prize money. The Expert Panel meet regularly to review and score the applications. They receive no remuneration for their work as part of the NHS Innovation Challenges Expert Panel
