About the Programme

Practice Based Development and Research Programme

This programme is supported by a partnership between FoNS and the General Nursing Council for England and Wales Trust (GNCEWT).

This practice based development and research programme aims to support nurse-led healthcare teams who have identified an aspect of care that needs improving and are committed to working in a systematic way to develop and change practice through research.

The programme offers support over a period of two years and includes:

  • Advice on the development of an effective proposal
  • Help to identify and make links with people who may be able to offer support locally
  • Masterclasses and seminars
  • Facilitation and support in the workplace to undertake the research and practice change
  • Bursaries of up to £5000
  • Support with sharing and publication

Applicants must be registered nurses working in clinical practice in England and Wales and need to demonstrate strong evidence from practice to support the need for their research/practice development. They will also need to clearly show their intention to realise improvement to nursing practice and patient care. In this way, the programme will help contribute to enhancing the quality of nursing and healthcare by responding directly to practice issues.

The programme is now closed to applicants but there will be a new call for applications in 2013.
