Brodie Paterson
Clinical director, Behaviour Distress
Scotland
My name is Dr Brodie Paterson and I am an LD and MH nurse and I am a campaigner, academic, researcher, and expert practitioner. I have longstanding interests in restrictive intervention reduction, the development of corrupted cultures in care settings, trauma informed practice in services for people with an intellectual disability, health inequalities impacting people with an LD and the impact of compassion fatigue. I presently work between the UK and Australia.
I have successfully mentored several individuals over a number of years who have gone on to win national and international awards. Ensuring we have an outstanding future generation of practitioners who can safeguard the future of people with an LD is incredibly important and it’s an absolute privilege to be able to play a role in doing so.
Growing leadership and confidence skills is something Annie loves to support. Helping newer nurses to realize that we are all ‘agents for positive change’ is the driving force behind her desire to offer mentorship
