Mental Health Awareness Week: Creating Communities of Practice
Jolie Goodman, Joint Lived Experience Co-Production Lead
The theme for Mental Health Awareness week is community.
Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone.
Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support and can give us a sense of purpose.
At the Foundation of Nursing Studies, building positive communities is at the heart of the work that we do, through our education programmes and our reflective supervision groups.
In my role as one of the Joint Lived Experience Leads, I am looking forward to co-producing the Community of Practice. which will support in-patient Ward Managers who have taken part in our MHLDA Ward Manager Leadership Development Programme.
A community of practice is where a group of people regularly come together to share ideas and learn from each other, helping each other to improve their practice.
