Alison Haughton

Alison is recently retired from her role as Chief Executive Officer at Saint Mary’s Hospital Manchester, within the Manchester NHS Foundation Trust Group. Within her role, Alison was accountable for the safe, efficient, sustainable, and effective development and delivery of the services in line with the developed strategy, ensuring that the needs of the service users were front and centre.
Aison is a proud Registered Nurse and has worked within the NHS for all of her professional career, undertaking a wide variety of clinical and senior leadership roles underpinned by the values of care, kindness and compassion that inspired her to begin her career within nursing.
Alison has a passion to use her position to make a difference, to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of communities, reducing inequalities, celebrating diversity, and creating vibrant opportunities that support people to thrive, to live full and active lives and to achieve their full potential.
Alison is committed to bringing these values and her experiences to support FoNS Board members in the delivery of their strategy, to support all nurses, midwives and allied health professionals to both deliver and receive care with compassion. Responding to the technical and digital advancements in care delivery to identify the true value of person centred care and human interactions.
Outside of work Alison enjoys spending time with family, walking with Monty and Bertie the family dogs and is slowly embarking on her lifetime ambition of learning to play the piano.
