Maaike Vandeweghe is an independent learning and development consultant, senior educationalist and registered nurse with over 20 years’ experience across health and social care. She works nationally with a range of organisations, including Hospice UK, NHS services and care homes, supporting workforce development, leadership, education design and practice development. Her work brings together strategic thinking, contemporary learning approaches and a strong commitment to person-centred care.
With a professional background spanning acute hospitals, community services, care homes, prisons and hospices, Maaike has particular expertise in palliative care, workforce development and learning design. Formerly the Head of Professional Programmes of Learning at St Christopher’s Hospice, she now works across organisations to design and facilitate programmes that respond to current workforce needs, strengthen leadership, and support compassionate cultures of care.
Maaike is especially interested in reflective practice, resilience, supervision and the development of teams and leaders in complex care environments. She works with FoNS as an Associate Facilitator on the Resilience-based Clinical Supervision Programme and the Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism Inpatient Ward Manager Programme, helping to create thoughtful and practical learning experiences that support reflection, well-being and effective leadership.
