Dr Ann McMahon

Ann is an almost retired nurse who during her career has been involved in research and innovation in a range of clinical, management and policy roles. Her doctoral research examined the conditions where innovation in health care may flourish. As well as being the professional lead for research at the RCN, Ann led a programme of work developing practitioner’s capability to demonstrate the value of the services they provided by applying the principles of economic assessment to their practice.
Ann was Co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Research in Nursing from 2011-2024 and Trustee of the Foundation of Nursing Studies from 2014-2023.
Ann currently holds honorary positions at the University of Glasgow and Plymouth University.
